IRZU - artistic Productions

"Sonic beams / Acoustic Shadows" is a first artistic derivative of a research project exploring haptic feedback interfaces based on ultrasonic pressure waves. The main idea that motivated the approach was rather utopian and envisioned an interface that would allow a musician to mould and shape some instance (abstraction) of a sound sound with his bare hands. While changing the shape of this - preferably immaterial - object the musician would experience its new shape and hear its acoustic appearance. A prototype instrument utilizing 97 ultrasonic transducers, one ultrasonic receiver and a mixing board was implemented for a very specific use - within the composition "Sonic beams / Acoustic" shadows utilizing a no-input mixing board audio aesthetics.

"Who are the Artists?" is an art interdisciplinary art project by Nika Autor, Miha Ciglar, Tjasa Pogacar-Podgornik, Vasja Progar and Anderj Skufca. The first exhibition is openning on December 22nd in Gallery Media Nox in Maribor, Slovenia at 18.00 O'clock and will be running untill the 8th. January 2010 More infos on the project: here

The performative piece "Fictive Situations" (2009) by Miha Ciglar, Nika Autor and Tina Valentan was be premiered at the BJCEM Biennale in Skopje, Macedonia in early september. A second performance took place on September 13th at the festival Terminal00 in London, and a third one on October 5th at Mestna Galerija in Ljubljana, Slovenia. More infos on the project: here
